Energy · For business owners

Stop overpaying on energy — and stop thinking about it

Energy is the one bill most owners just pay because it’s confusing. We make it simple, lock in better rates, and keep money in your pocket — at no cost to you.

The short version

What is a commercial energy broker?

A commercial energy broker shops the deregulated supply market on a business’s behalf — comparing suppliers, negotiating terms and timing the contract — so the business pays less per kilowatt-hour or per MCF than it would by default. The utility still delivers the energy and handles outages; only the supply rate changes.

ABA Partners Plus is a PUCO-licensed broker paid by the supplier, not the client, so the review and the ongoing service cost the business nothing.

What’s in it for you

Keep more of every dollar you earn

We don’t sell you energy — we sit on your side of the table and make sure you’re never the one overpaying.

  • Protect your margins by locking in before the market climbs — so a rate spike never blows up your budget.
  • Every location, one clear picture — no more guessing which sites are quietly bleeding cash.
  • Savings without lifting a finger — we handle the shopping, the switch and the paperwork.
  • No cost to you — we’re paid a small margin by the supplier, so we only win when you save.
  • A heads-up before renewal — we watch your contract dates so you’re never caught flat-footed.
Simple from day one

How it works

One short conversation and a recent bill is all it takes to get started.

  1. Send us a bill

Share one recent energy bill per location. That’s everything we need to see where you stand.

  2. We shop the market

We compare suppliers, watch the timing and bring you a clear recommendation — no jargon, no pressure.

  3. Lock in & relax

You lock in a better rate on smart terms. We keep watching, so you never have to think about it again.

The insider edge

Timing is everything — and most businesses get it backwards

Here’s the trap: most businesses only shop their energy when a contract expires. But that’s almost always when rates are highest. By then you’ve already overpaid for months.

We do the opposite. We build the relationship first, watch the market, and tell you exactly when to lock in — so you buy low, not high.

Good questions

Energy questions, answered

How does an energy broker save you money if you don't pay them?

An energy broker is paid a small margin by the energy supplier on the energy you use, not by you. ABA Partners Plus shops the deregulated market on your behalf, compares supplier offers and times the lock-in. Because the broker is only paid when you sign a better rate, the incentive is aligned with your savings — the review itself is free and carries no obligation.

Will switching energy suppliers interrupt our service?

No. Your local utility still delivers the power or gas, handles outages and sends the bill. Switching suppliers only changes the supply rate behind the scenes — there is no new equipment, no downtime and nothing changes day to day at your locations.

Which states can ABA Partners Plus serve for energy?

ABA Partners Plus operates in deregulated markets: Ohio (natural gas and electric, statewide), Illinois (gas and electric), Indiana (natural gas) and select deregulated territories in Kentucky. If you have locations in other states, ABA will tell you what is and isn't possible there.

Is an energy review worth it for a single-location business?

Often yes, particularly for energy-heavy operations such as funeral homes, restaurants, medical facilities and senior care, where energy is a large controllable cost. The free bill review answers the question definitively at no cost — if you are not overpaying, ABA will say so.

When is the best time to lock in a commercial energy rate?

Almost never at contract expiry, which is when most businesses shop and when rates are typically highest. The better approach is to establish the relationship early, monitor the market, and lock in when pricing dips — buying low rather than high. ABA tracks its clients' contract end dates and flags the window in advance.
